Service Description
Does nail trimming turn into a battle? Does your dog pull away or become fearful when you try to brush them, clean their ears, or handle their paws? Maybe you've started putting off grooming altogether because you know how stressful it's going to be. You're not alone—and your dog doesn't have to dread every hands-on interaction. In our Cooperative Care class, we'll help you teach your dog to become more comfortable with the handling involved in everyday care, grooming and vet visits. Through gradual exercises, positive reinforcement, and practical training techniques, you'll learn how to build trust, recognize your dog's comfort level, and make grooming routines and handling more manageable. Over four weeks, we'll work on skills such as: Comfortable paw handling and nail-trim preparation Getting used to brushes, grooming tools, and gentle body handling Building positive associations with ear, face, and collar handling Teaching cooperative behaviors that help your dog participate in their own care Recognizing signs of stress and knowing when to pause or make an exercise easier And more! Whether your dog wiggles through every nail trim, avoids the brush, or simply needs more confidence with handling, this class will give you practical skills to work on at home. The goal? Less wrestling, less stress, and a better experience for both you and your dog. Please note: This class focuses on training and cooperative-care foundations. It is not a grooming service, and dogs with significant handling-related aggression or severe fear may need an individualized training plan before joining a group class.
